Telluride Outlying Ranches and Mesas

Hastings Mesa

Hastings Mesa is on the west side of Last Dollar Pass between Sawpit and Ski Dallas Divide. It remains largely undeveloped. It is one of the Telluride Regions last places for being off the grid with no power or telephones to the lot lines.  Last Dollar Tracts just as you top the hill going up Last Dollar Road from Highway 62 at the top of Dallas you will arrive at the Historic Last Dollar Ranch on your left and Last Dollar Tracts on your right. These ranches are 35+ acres each with gravel roads, trees and open lots with amazing views of the Sneffles range.. Hastings Estates Across from Last Dollar Ranch Hastings Estates offers 11-35 acre lots, though winter access is by ski, snowmobile, or snowcat. Hastings Mesa Estates are smaller lots just across from Hastings Estates these are more  affordable lots because they are off the grid and winter access is by ski or snowmobile only. San Juan Vista, up the road through Cradle Park is a beautiful rolling subdivision with smaller affordable lots and is off the grid as well. Cradle Park is the big open park below North Pole Peak offering 35 acre tracts with an amazing alpine setting. Lots are off the grid and winter access is by ski or snowmobile. Beaver Pond Subdivision is next as  you climb up the hill on Last Dollar Pass this property backs up to Hayden Peak and overlooks the undeveloped meadows of Hastings Mesa. This property is also off the grid. West Hastings Mesa On the Southeastern benches of the mesa these 35 acre lots have some of  the best views of the Telluride Mountains and  on Hastings Mesa. The roads are maintained year round and power has been brought to some of the lots. Old Elam Ranch sits on the southern portion of Hastings Mesa with huge views of the Wilson and Sneffles ranges. Telluride Pines is one of the only subdivisions on Hastings Mesa with Power, Telephone, and a community Water System. Telluride Pines is located on the Sunnyside of Alder Creek Canyon with huge views of the Sneffles and Wilson Ranges. The lots range in size from 3 to 5 acres.  Last but not least is Finnegan Ranch, located just past Telluride Pines on the Western side of Hastings Mesa with most lots being 35 acres. This location is one of the few locations on Hastings Mesa with year round access.

 

Specie Mesa

These ranches are located just west of Wilson Mesa, about a 30 to 40 minute drive from Telluride, Specie Mesa has 2 large ranch parcels, 3 smaller ranch areas and 1 subdivision. Specie has great views and wonderful wide-open spaces.  You will enjoy huge lone cone views.  The ranches in Specie Mesa tend to be larger at about 110 acres.

 

Wilson Mesa

This is the closest mesa to Telluride and about a 25-minute drive. The mesa contains some very large parcels and the smaller Wilson Mesa Ranches Subdivision which tend to be 7-14 acre pieces. Wilson Mesa offers some of the most breathtaking views in the Telluride region.  This area offers one of the areas tallest and most spectacular mountains with Mount Wilson being over 14000 feet vertical.

 

Horsefly Mesa/Iron Springs Mesa

Horsefly and Iron Springs Mesa is on the North and West side of Highway 62 and has been around for generations. Bill Carstens purchased the majority of land, and has created some of the best residential ranch properties in the region. Brown Ranch has a minimum lot size of 70 acres and open meadows and Aspen groves with beautiful rolling mountains. The roads are well maintained and views of the surrounding San Juan Mountain range are exceptional. Brown Dog Ranch, was developed on 530+ acre with 15-35 acre lots offers insane views of the San Juan Mountains with flat building sites. This area has an amazing trail system. Located only 30 minutes away from Telluride. The Bluffs, was the original property developed by Bill Carstens and a part of Carstens Ranch these 35 acre lots sit on the Bluff, looking out at the San Juan Mountains. These are great lots and surrounded by towering Ponderosa Pines.  The Lakes is located on the West side of Carstens Ranch, the lakes offer 35 acre home sites with a nice open feel and with of the Lakes.  These lots are just a 25 minute drive from Telluride and Mountain Village. Big Valley is a open valley with only 5 ranch lots and borders a 3100 acre ranch. These lots have views of the Telluride Mountains and Sneffles range. McKenzie Springs Ranch, McKenzie Springs Ranch offers 35 to 140 acre ranches on a sloping hillside with views of the San Juan Mountains. These are large lots and located by Ponderosa Pines.  This beautiful property is only 30 minutes from Telluride. Frontier Ranch is one of the larger tract ranches in the Telluride Region. Developed by Bill Carstens and this subdivision has only five parcels ranging in size from 100 to 400 acres each. The lots are not allowed to be subdivided into less than 100 acres.  You will enjoy huge unobstructed views.  Panorama Acres is located by Dave Wood Road and this subdivision offers 40 acre tracts with open meadows and aspen groves. Just 40 minutes from the Town of Telluride Panorama Acres is a great ranch property at an affordable price.
